Washington D.C., here I come!

This week I'm in Washington D.C. to attend the annual Romance Writers of America conference. I'll be going to workshops and parties and seeing old and new friends -- and also taking part in a few book signing events. I hope you'll stop by if you're in the area.

Tuesday, July 14, 7:00 pm - Barnes & Noble in Reston, VA. I'll be signing HOMICIDE IN HARDCOVER and with me will be New York Times bestselling author John Gilstrap who will be signing his latest thriller, NO MERCY.

Wednesday, July 15, 2009, 5:30 - 7:30 pm - I'll be taking part in the RWA "Readers for Life" Literacy Autographing at the Marriott Hotel, Wardman Park, in Washington, D.C. I'll be signing HOMICIDE IN HARDCOVER along with over 500 other authors, and the proceeds all go to literacy.

Cheers!

Kate, I got to the Lit Signing late in D.C. and, then, was derailed by friends I hadn't seen in years and was pulled away before I had a chance to stop by and see you... I did, however, want to say congrats to you on the success of your books and, also, a very belated thanks!

You were the GH-winning author who presented me with mine in 2007 :). I was in such a state of shock that night, though, I have no idea if anything I said to you was coherent. (My guess is No. :-) Wonderful to see your novels out and doing so well--best wishes!!

Ack! I knew your book was part of a series, so I thought a couple of titles must've been released, esp. since HIH hit the NYT list. But I just realized HIH was your first book! How awesome is that?! When does the next one come out?

Dear Kate,
I just finished your book and am in complete love with the characters etc. Brooks is so funny and crazy and Derek, holy cow. I hope to see more of them together. I am anxious for your next book. I am struggling writer and just completed my first novel, a young adult fiction romance, your story gave me hope. I hope to maybe see you UCLA if you attend again. Good luck with next book.

Best Regards

I read your book yesterday. Thoroughly enjoyed it - I was in the mood for a mystery about books, have an interest in bookbinding, and am a fellow writer. i hope you set the next one in Edinburgh, since you referred to it several times -- a couple of my plays have been produced there and I'm madly in love with the city. So a book about books set in one of the cities of my heart? A must-have for me!

I hope you don't mind I mentioned your book on the October 26 post of my blog, Ink in My Coffee.

And, if you have the time or inclination, I'd love to feature the book and a short interview (about five questions) on my blog about books, reading, and book-buying, A BIBLIO PARADISE.

Hi, Kate:

Thank you so much for joining our book group last night at Barnes and Noble, Huntington Beach. I enjoyed meeting you and I enjoyed your talk. You did a great job! And your hair looked fabulous!

I found a book that you might be interested in reading. It sounds intriguing.

The Man Who Loved Books Too Much: The True Story of a Thief, a Detective, and a World of Literary Obsession

http://www.amazon.com/Man-Who-Loved-Books-Much/dp/1594488916/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1258472388&sr=8-1

I have your next book (If Books Could Kill) on pre-order and can’t wait to receive it and read it. Hope you can visit our group again.

Thank you again,

Janel

Hi,Kate, I love the two books that you personally autographed and was looking forward to the Los Angeles Times-sponsored Book Fair this past April 30-May 1 to buy your new book... and maybe get another autograph! So very disappointed when I looked for the tent you usually occupy. I think it was called the mystery women writers, or something like that. Well, no tent, no Kate Carlisle at USC. My daughter and I found the USC Book Fair to rate very low in comparison to the ones held at UCLA. USC appeared to be disorganized, chaotic, no one seemed in charge, information booth knew nothing! No Barnes & Noble again this year. No cute book or Nook accessory tents with covers, bookmarks, book bags. Since my daughter and I go every year, we are debating about whether or not to attend next year. Congratulations on your recent awards and hope to see you again at a book signing.
